Scripps Institution of Oceanography IGPP Munk SIO Research & Office

Historic exterior building retrofit including structural and cosmetic upgrades of Redwood constructed and clad building. Historic intent preserved by meticulous blending of new and existing Redwood. Removed/replaced deteriorated roof beams and structural support posts. Damaged decking, outboard trellis repaired/replaced with new sustainably sourced Heart of Redwood. Select column piers and footings replaced to repair structural integrity. Roof replacement for the entire upper roof (over office/meeting suites).

First Mark completed the historic retrofit of this Scripps Institution of Oceanography lab and office building in March 2020, including both structural and cosmetic upgrades. Subsequent to completion, client requested that First Mark return and replace the built-up ballast roof over office/meeting suites to maintain continuity with the historic design intent.
